What are you fishing for?
Depends on what you are fishing for. A 6wt can handle just about anything from tiny trout flies all the way up to bass bugs. The big ugly deer-hair bugs might be a little much for it, but smaller cork or foam bass bugs should be fine
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
Get a few size ten poppers, various colors.
I'll be fishing for largemouth bass, In ponds, rivers and lakes.
Castwell, You crack me up!!!

On the surface: hair bugs, cork or foam poppers, frog and grasshopper patterns, and such from #10-#4
underneath: crayfish patterns, clouser minnows, deceivers, large nymphs, and leech patterns, also from #10-#4.
Also, you might post this query in the warmwater section, you'll get a lot of good advice from the guys there, too.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
don't forget green weenies and infamous pink worms

Offer a friend who has experience to take you and use his flies. When you get back offer to restock his supply. This way you will get to use flies someone has experience with in the area that you are stalking.-Migs
