Was wondering if the CD is as thorough as the book is in regards to fly tyring etc. And also for those who have used either the book or cd, the pros and cons for using either/or.

Speech,
Sorry, it's a personal thing. I use both. I'm set up at home so the laptop is over the bench while I'm tying.
It was less expensive for me to get TONS of patterns etc on CD's.
For TECHNICS though, I prefer books.
I use the images on the CD's to help me keep proportions right and to look up patterns.
I prefer a book to look over technics. (that's why I print out so many of the FAOL articles and put them in a binder.)

I like the book. It opens flat so it's easy to use.
I can also take the book between rooms to read or use as a reference when tying. Plus, I think the book is more reader friendly.
I would assume you could find things quicker on the CD, but I've never tried it.
I'm in the computer business, so I'm NOT anti-computer.

speechless,
A wonderful opportunity was missed with the BSRG release on CD.
While the electronic medium allows for superb cross-referencing though hyperlinks, animation, indexing, etc. the CD simply holds a PDF copy of the book material.
I had the opportunity to discuss this very issue with Ted Leeson some thre years back. The CD format and release was an Amato decision and expanding the format to make better use of the electronic medium was not discussed prior release.
In this particular case I prefer the printed version.
Cheers,
Hans W

I have both and I tend to agree with Hans. The CD was poorly done when it could have been great. I do like seeing the techniques on the screen though. For reading up on something nothing beats the book. If I could only have one or the other, I would go with the book.

Fish more, work less!
I'm with Hans, the book is best. I saw the CD at a friend's house B4 I bought the book. Book is an absolute work of art and (whenever I can get away with it) is my Coffee Table book of choice.
I do use a laptop on my tying bench for other patterns such as those found here on FAOL.
Again, this vote is for the book
