    Default White bass

It's the height of the fall white bass and hybrid season here, and if the weather holds It'll last for a whille. I've been having good luck in several local reservoirs fishing chunk rock near flats and deep points. In both cases it's been best with a good wind blowing straight in to the bank, which makes chucking a sinking line a little bit of work, but at least it's fun work. I've been doing best on clousers, and a miniature version of surf candy. I've got pictures, but the were taken with a non-digital camera, so I need to get the negs transfered to cd before I can post them. Anybody else out there going after these little balls of fire? If so, what's working for you? If not, go out and try it--it's a total blast!
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

    Bluegill,

Could you use a partner in crime on some of these N/E Kansas trips?

I caught 5 whites this spring while fly rodding below riffles in a feeder creek to one of our nearby reservoirs. Then the spring spawning run ended.

Five whites was just enough action to torture me.

It's supposed to be pretty windy tomorrow. Maybe too windy, but you'd know more about that than me.

The White Bass Partner In Crime hotline is:

    riverat@sunflower.com

I'll check email periodically today. (pant, pant, whine, whine)

    Bluegill and Joe,

Could you gentlemen handle another potential partner?

I recently started fly fishing again. While I've never fished for white bass, I'd really like to try.

I'll even tie the Clousers! Or bring a digicam.

Bluegill: If you haven't had the photos developed yet, try Evolution photo on Metcalf. They'll develop the film, print the photos, and scan the negatives onto a disc (www.evolutionphotographics.com).

    NOW look what you've done!!
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

Yeah, Betty, looks like a warmwater fish-in in the making, don't it? You need to leave those trout alone for a while and join in the fun

As to the rest of you, as I told Joe, I'm in the middle of a move right now (to Spring Hill), so my fishing time will be sharply curtailed for a week or two, but if the weather holds, and it looks like it will, perhaps a mini fish-in is in order. I'll let you all know when I get settled in.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

    Default Sand (White) Bass

I fish for them all the time.

I have a pattern that is deadly on them. It is a Shad pattern, tied 'Puglisi' style with grey Sea Fibers on top and white Sea Fibers on the bottom. I use 'stick-on' prismatic eyes, but sometimes I will color them on with Prismatic Markers instead. They also let you add some more detail such as red gills, black spot, and so-on. You can tied it weighted as well.

I don't know what kind of camera I need to take pictures of the fly and the pattern, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
