    Default Uni -floss

The most popular brand of floss these days seems to be 4 strand. A friend gave me a piece of Uni brand single strand floss (not thread). It was great for little soft hackles. He didn't recall where he bought it. I see Uni-thread in my catalogs but not Uni-floss. I need mail order locations. Thanks.

Since you probably already have the 4 strand floss, just separate 1 strand out and youll have the same thing.

Or visit one of the fly shop sponsors on this web site to purchace some.

    Ray,

UNI-Floss should be widely available at most shops. It is a 600 Denier floss that comes in 15 yd spools and is available in 34 colours and i stock them all in my shop.

If i can be of any help let me know.

I like uni-floss a lot. Uni-stretch is good, too, and it's what I use on most soft hackles. Easy as pie but maybe not quite as floss-y looking. I like how when it gets wet it keeps it's color and doesn't go all dark.

Stone River is a great sponsor and has fair prices on Uni product. Nice people.

I use Uni Floss and it appears to me to be constructed of two separate thinner strands that can be easily separated by untwisting it slightly. Using a single strand makes tying really small floss bodies easier because I can get the single strand much flatter that the full strand which may or may not be two strands.

I have also found that a single strand of 4 strand floss APPEARS to me to be thinner than a full strand of Uni Floss.
