Default Best fly box for bass flies

What's everyone using for a bass fly box? I have the one that has form on both sides. It's not working. Some of the flies fall out or can't be attached because of the weed guard. It's really a problem with the bigger ones like the big divers. I don't know if I should get a big plastic box from bass pro or get the wallet sleeve type. What are the suggestions.

i have the one from bass pro, and it seems to work fine. i have not put any large deer hair bugs in it yet, but i'm sure they would't crush too much.

I switched over to using the C&F fly boxes form almost all of my flies. I was tired of finding my flies all jumbled up because they came loose in the all foam boxes. The C&F boxes are a bit pricey, but they make wonderful gifts from friends and relatives who don't know what else to get you

I also got tired of standard fly boxes for bass flies, so I took some stick bait boxes I had from my bait casting days, and use them now. There are six long compartments that will hold 2-4 flies without smashing the flies. I keep the boxes in the back compartment of my vest, but keep a couple of flies on my wool fly patch for easy access.

I like to use the Orvis Adjustable fly boxes, the largest size is big enough to accomodate bass bugs without crushing them and the adjustable compartments lets you customize it to what you need.

Typical 'Fly' boxes fall short for these larger and longer baits.

I also prefer the regular old 'Plano' type bait boxes for most of my bass flies (what doesn't go into these goes into those high tech self locking see through flexible plastic containers made by Glad for temporary food storage).

They come in a wide assortment of sizes, from small pocket size up to 11 X 17, with a variety of configurations to fit just about any need. Not too expensive, either, at from <$2 to about $5 for the big ones.

    Good Luck!

    I use [url=http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20431-cat20550_TGP&id=0001410314083a&navCount=1&podId=00 01410&parentId=cat20550&masterpathid=&navAction=pu sh&catalogCode=IG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=ca t20550&hasJS=true:68a6e]these[/url:68a6e] from Cabela's.

The quality is good, they are relatively inexpensive and you can snap two of them together. The undivided Nubby Tack box works well for large flies and the other variations like the 3 section are good for streamers. I have also pulled out the Nubby Tack and used the undivided box for other storage.

Ive never used them but some of the bigger boxes from Cliff Outdoors would certainly do the job.

I use two differnt types of boxes.

    1. Small Plano boxes

    2. Video cassette boxes with some foam glued to the inside bottom of the box. I've used foam from pool noodles and sill seal and .....
