    Default bluegill rod

My old, trusty 7'9" 4/5 St croix prographite. Now I am scrambling to find a 5wt for my kids to bluegill fish with me. I am not real thrilled about my kids useing one of my sage rods. I am hoping to find somthing 7'6" or under. any sugestions?

    From another post:

"Cabela's Three Forks 7.5 3pc. 3wt. is on sale for $39.99. I've fished with my buddies' and there are a number of guys in our TU chapter that use it and love it."

do you think my 6,9,10 year old kids can cast a 3wt? I already have a few reels with 4 and 5 wt line on them. Not really thrilled about investing in a line too.
    Thanks

I used to have (before car door) a 7' 5 wt St Croix--forget the model, but was around $70.00 as I recall. My current rods are a lot more expensive, but not necessarily more enjoyable to fish.

I've got a cortland (fair play) 5/6 weight Ide sell/trade. It's fast action but my son learned on it. If need I got the reel and line that came with it. It's to fast for me hehe I like a softer rod myself.

But my sons second rod is even a faster action....feels like an ancient weapon to me though hehe.

What about a nearly unbreakable fiberglass rod. Plenty of good used rods in modest lengths throwing an easy 6wt can be had on Ebay for $20 or so. Medium actions are easy to feel and control.

You might look at: castitagain.com. He sells a nice rod that may just be what you are looking for.

Well guy?s thanks for the advice.
Today I picked up a Gander mountain guide series rod (the cheapest one they sell) 4/5 for $29 dollars (39 with $10 off) after taking it home and casting it to see if it was worthy? I decided it might come with me bluegill fishing even if the kids don't. It is only 8' long and now I can keep a rod strung up that the kids can play with in the back yard again.
