Thread: tiniest Pigboat?

  1. Default Tiny Pig Boats

    Hi Robin,

I tied a bunch of Pig Boats in size #8 & #12 a couple of years ago for a fly swap. They are deadly on bream. There are some tricks that will make life easier when tying these little guys. The biggest problem may be to find the right rubber hackle.

I have some tying instructions and some measurements all typed up, that I sent off with the fly swap. I will be glad to fax it to you if you will send me a fax #. Or, better yet, I think I may have several of these guys lying around somewhere, I can mail you the paper work and a few fly samples if you are interested. I am just next door to you, in Louisiana.

You can email me at: wpevey@charter.net

I have not tied any of these, or anything else for that matter in a couple of years. Been too busy to do much tying or fishing. Definately need to do something about that!!

    Good Luck,
    Ward

    Default Legs

    Robin,
You maybe know that you can also buy those wide strips of black rubber legs in a micro size, suitable for panfish flies, right? They'd be fairly inexpensive.

    Ward,

I got your fax, thank you! The fax machine at work ate part of it but I got enough to see the Warm Water Fly Fisher website and was able to navigate to it. Thank you very much!

I had the honor of hearing Tom Nixon speak at a Dallas Fly Fishers meeting several years ago, not too long before he passed away. What a delightful soul!

    Default Mr ugly

I have caught loads of bluegills ,redbreast, redears, and spotted bass on the above jig flies especially in the pumpkin and yellow tail version. Here is anoth good fly I tie in 12,10,and 8s.I call it mr ugly and it looks a little more like a pigboat but is tied with peacock herl
instead of rubber or silicon strands.see the following url

I am sorry but Mr Ugly uses emus feathers radiating around the head instead of peacock herl---sorry about that.By the way the picture was taken after I had returned from West Point Lk.after a day using it successfully on spots
