hello all, i have the chance to buy a 10 year old very good condition T&T HS909S 9' WITH ISLANDER FR-2
reel for $450.also will through in stripping basket and flies.
so what do you think?

T&T makes wonderful rods, but the price seems a bit high for a rod of this age, the reel and accessories notwithstanding. If it were me, I'd look around for a newer, 4-piece version.

I don't know where 'Anytown' USA is, but here by Seattle, WA that would seem like a very fair deal, unless it is beat all to heck. If it is something you have a use for I would suggest you buy it.

The rod is the "Horizon Series" a 9' rod for 9wt. One of the best saltwater rods going. The rod has a crisp tight action and a strong butt for bigger fish. You will love it, however the price seems a little high for a 10 year old rod. The rod sells used for about $175-200.

Offer $ 400.00 and see what he says, you can always go up to meet his price. It does seem like a reasonable price to me since a new FR-2 is about $450.00 you can justify it by thinking you are getting a rod for free!
