Bamboozle your wife and mine must have gone to the same school. I always answer with "you just never know"

Bamboozle,
My Wife wore me out with "Ive had that dress, outfit, shoes, whatever, for a long time in the closet. It turns out that my Wife never SHOPPED for clothes, they just MAGICALLY appeared in the closet!
How convenient!
I am proud to say that my boat had a rod box and I never SHOPPED for any of my 12 rods, they just appeared in the box. They never made it inside the closet.

I suppose that I don't own any, they're just on loan to me until the trees want 'em back.
I carry two Muddlers, just in case I might lose one of them.

Sometimes you just gotta lie.
Not sure. I have 4 large fly boxes completely packed and a new one that is already 1/2 full. I don't buy flies, just materials.......
dunno - in the neighborhood of 4-500
I usually take 4 of each pattern with me on warm water (3 to loose, one to base pattern on for re-tying) - 6 of each pattern for trout (and trees).
I know I never have enuf flies - but .....
I have about 300 with 200 being fancy steelie flies I don't use. The rest are carried in two boxes with one hitting the stream at any one time and the rest in the truck with my one spare rod & reel.
I've tied almost 1000 flies this year. I don't feel like I own any of them. I kinda think of them as "on loan" until I lose them to a tree, a rock or a fish. Then they become the owners!
