NY Laguardia Airport-Rod & Reel Carry-On?

Has anyone recently been allowed to carry-on pack rods and reels at Laguardia Airport?--Particularly Frontier Airlines?

i have flown american airlines several times since 9-11 with pack rods and reels. only once was i asked what was in the pack rod case, (mine holds 5 rods).
