    Default Ooops...Stupid Mistake....

    ...I don't know how many times I've read JC saying "always point the rod behind you when walking", well stupid me took a stumble in the river while holding my rod...in front of me...and I snapped the tip top right off.

    My question pertains to fixing this...or merely putting a new tip top on it. I've never built a rod so I don't know how the sizing works. I measured the diameter with a pair of calipers and it's .070" where it broke off. I looked at H&H and don't have a clue what to buy necause everything is 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5...etc. Can anybody give me some input on how this sizing works and recommend what I can do, if anything?

    The rod is a 4 piece Redington Crosswater, cheap enough and I do have my spare that I'm using in the meantime, but now I don't have a spare and want this one repaired for the next time I decide to do something stupid.

    Thanks!

    If you don't use the warrantee (time constraints?), and just want a quick fix as a standby rod, take the tip section to a fly shop and "try on" different sized tip-tops. Or, if you don't have a shop in your town, or close by, tell H&H the measurments and they could suggest a couple sizes that may work. They're fairly inexpensive, even if you buy a few of them, try them on to size, and ask the guys at H&H what their return policy s on the ones that don't fit.
    Trouts don't live in ugly places.

    A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

    Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

    Pemi-Man;
    A lot of shops will replace the tip top for the cost of the tip top.

    Pemi-Man, .070 is a 4.5 tip. Tips are measured in 64ths of an inch.

    Joe has it....you can always divide the micrometer or dial caliper reading by .015625 to get the 64ths

    Thanks for the info, think I'm just going to order the tip and have a go at it!
