Default a reel for a one weight?

mainly just stirring the pot here folks because I have no broken legs or fingers and can drive as well as web search.

But I thought I'd take a poll of one weight casters and find out what reels y'all have found work well on your babies.

I have an 1834 Pflueger as well as a Cahill 0 but am always in the market for more toys!

    Default Redington CT 2/3

Inexpensive small (or at least light weight) reels are not easy to find. I got a new Redington CT 2/3 on ebay a couple of months ago for $25. It is a very small machined clicker that balances my 1 wt nicely. The reel is discontinued so ebay is your best bet.

    ross rythym 1 is sweet.
before I got the spool for the one wt I used a ross colorado 0. not made any longer but can be found for a good price.

I suspect that pflueger'll suit you just fine though. no need to get anything else.

Battenkill Large Arbor I. Have one on my 2wt. and it is smaller, lighter and when cool, line doesn't come off curly.

I use this reel for my 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3 weight rods. It has a simple drag but you can palm the reel with ease.

The Ryobi 255MG magnesium fly reel is perfect for a one weight - very light and a perfect size. They were an inexpensive reel when offered, but are now discontinued. The J. Austin Forbes magnesium reel is the same reel - JAF just re-labeled the Ryobi and changed the spool latch cover from plastic to metal. You will pay much more for the JAF though. Keep an eye on ebay.
