I would like to take this opportunity to thank LadyFisher for her article about bird flu. As a person who is an avid duck & goose hunter I have tried to garner as much information on the flu as I can as well as staying up to date on flu events.

I found that if you click on Google News and click on the enveope labled news alerts (left side of the page), Google will send you a daily E-mail with the latest happenings on bird flu - or whatever you are interested in. Also here is a link to the US government's Center for Disease Control site for additional info on bird flu: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/avian/outbreaks/current.htm

A couple of weeks ago I was on vacation with some friends. One of the them works for the CDC. He toasted Bird Flu and said that it's main effect in the U.S. was to generate an EXTRA $3 BILLION ($ 3,000,0000,000) in funding for the CDC.

Think that's bad? Figure the lose of revenue if someone found a cure for cancer. It's been saluted for a long time. Replaced appendicitis and consumption.
