I fished the Madison over the weekend and I'd post this in the fishing reports section if anyone actually read that board. Started Friday in the park, not fishing, but seeing the sights. Saw one of the first bison calfs of the year:


Saturday we floated from Varney to Ennis and the fishing was a bit slow but we did manage several nice fish, mostly on San Juan worms but I took a nice bow on a glo-bug. Yeah, kind of white trash fly-fishing but what did you do this weekend? This was the best fish (thought not the best picture):


Sunday (today) we fished on foot, and if you know where this place is, you need not post that information here. Fishing was good with nymphs but nothing on top. I hooked what I believe to be the biggest trout I've ever had on the end of my line in Montana, and it got off before I saw it. Today:


Also saw some steam coming out of the earth in Norris:


All in all I think it's a little early for the epic fishing on the Madison, in case you're wondering, but the action was hot enough to keep me interested all day.
