My last great cast happened just this past Sunday, July 30.
I was fishing on the West River, in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
I hiked in to a great hole about 3km off the road, rigged up and away I went.

The pool is about 25m long and 3m wide with overhanging alders and a 1.5m deep undercut on the outside of the turn. After about an hour I had landed a dozen fish in the 10-12" range.

At the tailout of the pool there is a log along the bank about 6m long, its roots still attached at the upstream end. It creates a back eddy. A fly eating alder also haunts that end of the log.

I tied on a #14 bead head Prince, got a couple of small trout on it right away. I tried to shoot for the roots of this log. The fly hit the water about 2mm from the apex of log and roots and dropped straight down from my indicator. It was the perfect cast to the deepest part of the pool in the back eddy. 5 seconds later, Bang. After a 10 minute battle I brought to hand a 16 1/2" brookie.

What a fish. What a reward for a great (LUCKY) cast.
