Though really not a angling topic I thought members might be interested. On the Gates Lodge website which is the host for Michigan's Fish in, they report recent cougar sightings in the Mason Tract area of the Ausable South Branch. There's been a debate for several years now on the actual existence of them in Michigan. Michigan's DNR did some baiting and evidence indicates a cougar or cougars are there.
I wonder why there has not been any effort to hire an experienced lion guide from out west to track one and get proof. Michigan's DNR does not "officially " concede their existence in the state but many believe they're"out there". Check it out:
