Thanks Paul!

That will make it oh so much easier. I have one really strong light, and have been looking around for a few (3-4) smaller highlights, but have yet to find any I really like (Man I miss having access to the colleges studio.) with this article, I think I will get me some wire, some mirrors and set up shop.

For cheap High Lights, I use those Work Shop Clamp anywhere lights (about $5 each), and use some of the Real Light Bulbs by General Electric (that give the real light spectrum). Better to have a few, as it helps to eliminate shadows on the backdrop in the photo, there is not hot any spots on the fly in the photo, also you can direct light to the underside of the fly (so there are no dark areas).

I use them for my fly tying, as all the light you can get, is still not enough. My fly tying room is designed with white walls, ceilings and floor, so the light is not absorbed by dark colors.

Hey Paul, I've got a dumb question I'm sure you've heard a million times..... How in the world do you post a photo on the board?

    HB,

The photo needs its own URL. You need to have it "hosted" on the web somewhere. I store mine on my mac.com account. But there are others that are free like photobucket (I don't know much about them). Then you just post its url like this...

you can also click on the edit button on my post above and see how it's written up.

I use a canon G5 digital rangefinder camera, it has a macro setting. Besides a macro lens you can also find macro filter sets that will do a decent job.
