My flys were sent out today. I added $10.00 (U.S.) for return postage.

Recipe for the "Muskrat" is as follows:
    Hook - Mustad 94840, sizes 12 - 20 (swap
    flys are size 1

    Thread - Uni/Thread 8/0, Black

    Tail - Brown hen barbules

Body - Muskrat fur (guard hairs removed),
    dubbed

Collar - Brown hen hackle (two to three
    turns)

This is my sons "go to pattern" when he is nymphing the lower Gunnison river. It is my go to pattern when a BWO hatch is coming off, or when Caddis are emerging.

For the BWO hatch I grease all but the last 6 inches of my leader, and fish the fly in the surface film.

For a caddis emergence, I fish the fly on a down and across cast. Most strikes occur as the fly rises to the surface. The strikes can be very violent.

This pattern is a very simple "plane Jane" fly, but it's one that I have complete confidence in.

Fireman's flymphs arrived while I was off in the frozen north, lovely P & O's !

Donald's have also arrived from even further north than me. Hope you are enjoying the last of winter up there Donald.
Thanks to you both for the extras, which will get an airing as soon as the season opens.
With mine That makes eight sets in.

This is wonderful stuff, you will all love it.
I will see about getting some flymph shots for the archive.
    Later, keep em coming chaps,
    Roy

    Roy,
No sign of my flies yet?? I sent 'em off on 13th of Feb before going to Cuba, and you're less than 100 miles from me! Shoulda sent 'em by pigeon post!
If you have not got 'em, let me know, I'll send another set
    Best wishes, mate!

Roy - good to hear you got my flies OK. I'm looking forward to the results of the swap.

my pattern was a simple one, but effective - i've never used this particular body color before - but it should work. the hackle is from a small hen neck i bought at blue ribbon flies the last time i was in west yellowstone. too bad i left the neck on my tying desk and one of my dogs grabbed it at chewed it up pretty good - they've done this before - when will i learn? oh well. it just gives me a good reason to get back to west yellowstone. the body is copper colored japanese silk, the same stuff i use to wrap my bamboo rods. mikey's rod has this colored silk for the tipping on the guide wraps.

    tight lines.
