Another brief update on the Gaspe area rivers.

Mideason counts have been done on several rivers and they show good runs of Atlantic Salmon. The York River, Dartmouth River, and Grande River all had excellents counts last week. The Dartmouth River and Grande River had over 40% grilse in the runs which is indicates that the 2007 runs of 10-15lbs salmon (2 sea-winter salmon) should be great.

The rivers are close to normal in terms of water levels. Water temps have been good although they are warming a bit with the present "mini heat wave". Rain is in the forecast over the next few days as are cooler than normal air temps.

Best river that we fish in terms of productivity is the Grande River over the past 10 days. The St. Jean is not far behind; both rivers are cooler than the others and tha makes a big difference.
