For Halloween I hiked to Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon. My goal was to scout out fishing in Bright Angel creek with a possible dip of a wooly bugger in the Colorado. I left early in the morning and got to the ranch by 1:00 p.m. and spent the next three hours fishing up and down the creek. I was able to land a 1/2 dozen Rainbows as I went further upstream from the confluence the trout just got more colorful. The last couple that I caught had par marks though they were between 10 and 12 inches. It gets dark in a hurry at the bottom of the canyon and I had a scheduled steak dinner at 5 so I missed the best action. I tried again for an hout the next morning but was unsuccessful. This was a really fun trip. If you've ever thought about hiking or floating the Grand Canyon don't forget your fly rod...there's something about catching a beautiful rainbow in that incredible environment.

p.s. All the trout were caught on nymphs.
