Trout fishing on the AuSable and Manistee rivers has been very good since the heavy rain 10 days ago.

Hoppers, beetles and ants throughout the day are winners. Also BWO and small caddis. Try a #14 Isonychia in the late afternoon.

Air temps are 80+, so be conscious of water temps as well. The AuSable South Branch is particularly succeptible to fish-kills because of heat stress so it's best avoided right now.

Salmon have been in the Little Manistee near Wellston for three weeks. Kings should start moving into the Big M and PM pretty soon.

Ephron lukon (the White Fly) will make its appearance on the AuSable below Mio at the end of the month. That One Day Wonder can be spectacular--BILLIONS of bugs in the air and on the water!

Great Lakes Bonefish are an option in Little Traverse Bay. To the unitiated, that means sight-casting to tailing bonef, uh, I mean carp with small nymphs or crawfish patterns.

Tight Loops,
Capt. Tony
