what if?
what if you had a day off unscheduled after heavy rains and long overdue cooler weather, high forecast for high forties, and you had to fly fish. where-how?? (warmwater lake bass-bream-crappie)

Fish any place the water runs into the pond. Fish nymphs or bright colored flies very slowly from the dirtier water to the water that is not quite so colored.
Hope this helps

thanks rick, that is encouraging, and definetly from a "qualified expert"

In very stained water, I have always had the best luck with all black flies, mainly mohair leech patterns fished low and slow. If the water is not too stained, then I find a chartruese over white polar fiber minnow fished faily slowly works well for LM bass. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Hey, I thought I was the only panfisher who uses nymphs and fishes them very slowly. You mean I'm not?

Hey Joe,
Not even buddy.*G* One reason I usually
fare better when I fish alone is my
propensity for fishing nymphs at about the
speed of growing grass. I guess I'm just
not comfortable doing so when fishing with
a buddy. Normally they have worked the
waters to a froth and I'm still fishing my
second cast.*G* I do find it quite
productive however. Warm regards, Jim

I wish my sons lived close by, I always enjoyed their company on the stream or lake. They are in Oregon, I am in Michigan. Still doesn't stop my from fly fishing and like you I take my time on the retreive. I am new to this site andlearn so much here. FAOL and the folk are genuine with their comments and suggestions. Keep up the fantastic columns!
Thank you, Rich

my idea of nymphs is limited to pt and grhe, small and tan/brown in color and the other end of the spectrum from bright colored creations. re we on the same page?

BGs don't always eat what looks like a real nymph or food item.
