    Default First time this year!

Yesterday I went out for the first time this year with my new 3wt that I got for Christmas. I had success! I got three crappie, two bass, and one gill. The weather outside was 40 something and very windy. Considering the weather and the fact that I was out for only an hour, I think that I did pretty well.
Has anyone else had any success this year?

Good for you! Nice to know someone is still fishing. I live where the weather can't make up it's mind. Doesn't stay cold enough, long enough for the ponds to freeze and spring is still a long ways off.

By the way, when conditions are right, I love taking my 3wt out and chasing bluegills.

    Chris,
Yes, I have had some success this year. I have been fishing the Arkansas River and catching stripers, white bass, and an occasional largemouth bass.

today was my first day out for '06. i didnt hit the warmwater ponds, though. i went trout fishing, instead. caught two really decent browns and had a real good time. standing in mid-shin deep snow, with ambient temps hovering around 60 and the air just as calm as could be...

Chris, that is a dandy January Bass! Looks like I'm going to have to drag out the 4 wt and hit the pond next door. Caught BG's on worms under a cork with my daughter on New Year's Eve but have yet to wave the long stick. Almost 65 F tomorrow! where's the VA/NC ice storms we usually get?

Yeah, it was a pretty nice January bass. I too am asking where the ice storms are. Just yesterday we had rain and thunderstorms.

    Nice Job-

the only thing I am catching are little sunfish, But it might be the weather because when I went there was a 7 mile an hour wind and it was starting to flurry. And the weather man said it was soppoused to be 45 hahaha.......

    thanks,
