We went to snoop a pond we have been "monitoring" for this season, but as it is a three hour drive, we keep it to once a month and incorporate some other activity with it. Such as visiting friends in Redding.....OR like dropping by the Federation Conclave (or whatever it was) in Redding this w/e.
Well the pond lost it's lilly pads since our last visit and the water cleared immensly (a lot?). Marv and self usually opt for surface pestering and Sat was no exception. Real early AM and shore-side proved very slow, so we hopped in a pram and plied the mid-pond area. As the water warmed just a bit, activity increased. It was a blast pestering LM's and BG's on bass poppers. Few hook-ups on BG's this way, but we were just too lazy to change stuff around. And it is way fun anyway watching frustrated BG's TRYING to anhialate (sp) a small bass popper. The roving schools of BG's looked like carp lips feeding, when they were doing it.
Afternoon found us at the conclave pestering Bones, Ken, Steve, Tony, and a few others. I am SURE we are going to regret taking ONLY enough time to say howdy to Al Beatty and not really meet him.....we already do. It seemed a grand event. It was fun introducing Marv to Bones in preparation for Marv's aquisition of one of these little boxes and his (Marv's) search for tuitorials. Of course we plan to drag him to this grand site as one of the first ones.
Finished the w/e checking out our friend's progress in a derby at L. Shasta and an o/night visit before the loooooong trek home.
The w/e was busier than we generally get involved with, but it was quite grand and we would not want to make an elimination choice, for sure.
Hope all had a good one too....
