What is interesting in Meadowlarks response and then Pastor Eds in my case is this.

I am even more of a rarity. I am female, 47 and have been an avid fly fisherman of warm and cold for 15-20 years now. I am not from TX, and before I moved to TX from IA, I was already warm water fly fishing. In 1993 in IA, I caught one of the top bluegill in the state, I have a signed and numbered print from that was given that year for big fish and that one was caught on a fly rod.

Meadowlark is right there are a lot of warm water fly fishermen down here. I was very surprised about that when I moved here, because I didn't see many warm water fly fisherman in IA.

For me, I love the sport and I saw no reason why warm water species couldn't be caught on a fly rod and have just been fishing that way for years. I also practice all catch and release.
