I was out on my local lake yesterday morning (9/1. I was in my little 14? boat and there were 3 guys in another boat. Beautiful morning and we were the only ones on the lake. One of the guys in the other boat was slinging steel and the other two were soaking worms.
When we both made it back to the landing they were asking how I did. I had kept 10 gills for dinner but caught at least 15 more plus I had caught 4 bass. They had one bass on a stringer, 17? (I don?t keep bass in water that warm) and one gill that I would consider too small.
They asked me what I was using so I showed them. An Al?s hopper size 10 with a biot midge dropper. Then they were asking where I bought them and I told them I made them. I could see they were a little bummed out so I gave the 3 hoppers I had left and 8 midges. I tried to explain that you really need a fly rod to cast them but they didn?t care they were going to figure it out themselves.
