    Default Maine in October

Going to be in the Portsmouth area towards the end of October and was wondering what types of warmwater (or cold if I must)action I might find at this time of the year.

Make sure you get a regulation book and check the water you are going to fish. Open water season closes Sept 30 and only water bodies with special regs can stay open. I think in the Southern part of the state you may be okay though. Just make sure you check. Maine wardens will eat you alive if you don't.

Large Red and white steamers that match to red devils seem to do the best that time of year for smallmouth and giant pickerel.
