    Default Bluegills celebrating the 4th

    Hi Folks,

Fireworks are legal in SC and everywhere
I go I this weekend firecrackers are going
off. This morning, I hit a favorite cypress
bay on the lake and it was no different.
The bluegills were popping as loud and
frequently as the fireworks I've been hearing this weekend. It was music to my
ears.*G* Most of them were back in the
lilly pads and a popper in almost any small
space between the pads resulted in an
instant explosion as the hand sized gills
attacked the popper. In a couple of hours
I had caught and released a goodly number
of the hefty kritters on #10
poppers and made it back home before the
heat of the day set in with a vengence.
It was my first outing with the new 6 1/2'
Diamondback 3 wt I got for Fathers Day. It
proved to be an excellent popper rod for
my fishery and I much enjoyed it.*G* Hope
you folks are having a great 4th as well.
    Warm regards, Jim

Sounds like fun Jim. I had a mess of 'gills for dinner several nights ago. My wife puts what's left in the refrigerator. I'll eat them tonight. I like cold fish and cold chicken as well or better than when it's hot.

My fishing over the last few times has revolved around my six year old son and his fishing experience. We spent a few hours yesterday pulling perch out of a local city park pond. They really put up a tussle on those 10' Zebco Crappie poles. Heck, I might even go fishing again myself someday.
