fishing a little inlet to a nearby lake where the water runs at a decent clip, enough to form a good eddy backwash. My first cast with a yellow Pigboat was attacked by a two plus pound bass that put up a great battle. Two cast later a one pounder. Running out of time I cast just one more time and I got a pike like hit. That bass had to go five pounds if it was an ounce. While it didn't clear the water, it came up for a couple of top water Chubby Checkers. A kid on a bike yelled wow. We had a good go of it until it made a run into the heavy water. My leader wasn't up for the battle. I think my heart is strong enough for a few more years. What a blast. The kid on the bike? "I didn't know you could catch fish like that on a fly rod. I've gotta get me one." JGW
