Rochester, NY Fishing?????

I have a last minute business trip to Rochester, NY this Thursday and have a few hours to fish. Any suggestions for close by fishing for Carp, Bass, Panfish? I know that Lake Erie is right there, but I thought there might be some smaller ponds or lakes in the area.

Hey Loudog,

I have done some pretty good smallie
fishing out of Rochester by driving east
along the lakeshore (Ontario), and stopping
at the various small bridges and fishing
the areas where small streams entered the
lake. The flies I used were the same
topwater offerings I used on my southern
bluegills. I spect if I'd have used leach
patterns and woolie buggers, I'd have done
some better but I found the fishing to be

Thanks for the quick reply Jim. That was my thought as well if I didn't get too much specific advice. I figured that I would drive around and just look for some streams or nice looking bays along the lakeshore.

I will most likely just bring a 4wt because I'm sure I'll be able to at least find some panfish and that is good enough for me.

You might try Sodas bay. I used to do pretty good up there when I lived in Rochester. It is just a short drive away. John
