    Default Wind! Aaarrrggghhh!

Had a chance to get out for a while yesterday afternoon. The forcast said wind 10 mmph gusting at times to 25 mph. Wind 25 mph, calming to 10 mph was more like it. Thank goodness I had my 6 wt with me. Anyway,I did manage to catch six bass, all around 12" to 14" and one nice blue gill at about 9".

When the wind blows like that I just grin and bear it. . . which is a little easier when I'm punching a hole through it with my 10 weight

I hear ya Okie. Kind of wish I had my 8 wt with me. But, I hate using the big rod when the size of the fish, in the body of water I'm fishing, doesn't warrant it. If you know what I mean.

I hear you. Saturday I guided about 20 canoes down the Upper Minnesota River into that wind, and in much of the river we were in 2 ft. waves. I've canoe the Minnesota regularly, and have for the last 13-14 years, but I've never seen waves anywhere close to that. Didn't have a capsize nor a drowning, and a whole bunch of people who were pretty happy with themselves at the end. Including several exchange students who had never canoed before in their lives. Fishing? Not in that kind of wind. Not even a Joe Hyde anchoring system would have held in that wind. Thought I was in Lake Superior at times. JGW
