    Default carp tables

I've seen plenty of tables that tell you the approx. weight of your fish based on it's length. The only problem is that none of them include carp. Only "gamefish". Has anyone put one of these together or seen one? I'd like to know how much these guts weigh.

The best formulas (formulae?) use length and girth. I can't seem to find one right now(so why am I wasting your time responding?) but make sure you use one that include girth.
Carp vary widely (pardon the pun) in girth. My river carp a long lean torpedos. Pond carp can be basketballs. Length alone let's you approximate, length and girth combined get you closer.

    Ok, I found one:

    length x girth x girth ? 800
    or
    length x length x girth ? 1200

I'd go with the first for carp because they can vary so much.

How big of one do you want?
I could make you one pretty quick.

I've seen it done two ways. First you square the girth, then multiply it by the length and divide it by 750. I've also seen some formulas that divide by 800. I think it depends on if the fish has a torpedo shaped frame like a pike, or a football shaped frame like a bass. It's amazingly accurate based on the few times I've had the luxury of a scale to compare actual weight with the computed weight.

    Thnaks for the info guys.

Hope to put it to some more use in the near future. Cold (in the 30's)and rainy here today kind of puts a damper on the fishing
I was going to do Friday.

What units do those formulas use? Inches and ounces? Inches and pounds? Centimeters and kilograms?
