Went to a local reservoir to give the outboard a shakedown cruise.

The good: Caught a nice rainbow on my first cast, the motor worked perfectly.

The bad: Caught a nice rainbow on my first cast, the next 2.5 hrs were fishless, finally got 3 pickerel as time ran out.

The ugly: Broke the seat back on the pedestal seat while reaching back to adjust my trolling motor! Fortunately said incident was not witnessed by any of my friends.

Fished a new pond a local told me about! Around 20 bluegill only 5 in the keeper size, 5 crappie and 5-10 baby 6"-8" large mouth bass. All fish returned unharmed. Overall a fun time!

This past weekend four different spec of fish all in the same spot with the same fly. LMB, chain pickeral, crappie, and the biggest brown trout I ever caught, 3-4 lbs. All fish were caught on a synthetic black and white clouser dredged along the bottom, except for the crappie which hit it on the drift down. All were released except for the trout which was a gift to the landowner who let me park and shove off from his place.

I fished the same public lake both Saturday and Sunday from the bass boat.
The good: I caught 14 sandbass (aka whitebass) on my 6 wt. and released them.
The bad: I caught all my crappie on a spinning rig, cleaned them and put them in the freezer.
The ugly: I saw several carp clooping in a foam line near the bank and I cast to one of them with the black and chartruese bugger I had tied on my 4 wt and although he took it, I missed him.
Well, I guess you can call me an "opportunity" fisherman in the true sense of the word 'cause I'm ready for any opportunity that presents itself.

Went out over the weekend for some night time gill fishing. I haven't had any luck yet catching them during the daylight hours, they come to the surface to feed right at dusk and we've been staying out till around 10:00 or so with good success. Caught enough to make us some fish tacos for dinner the next night. Yum.

I was using a black gurgle pop tied from the recipes on this site, along with a hare's ear nymph for a dropper. They sure do like that combo!

I tell you what, casting in the dark is an adventure. It's fun being out under the full moon, though.

    Hey Robert,

The fish turned on here this weekend.
I had commitments that wouldn't wait. But
this a.m. I was out, full of anticipation.
Water temps had dropped 10 degrees, wind
was up, waves kept building, only thing I
caught was a chill*G* We are very very
close to some hot fishing. Any day now.
All we need is a few warm days and I'll
be in the fish. I've been saying that
for 3 weeks now.*G* But it's gonna happen,
    and soon!*G* Warm regards, Jim
