The trout lillies (Erythronium americanum) are in the bud stage in this area now indicating a few early flies but nothing to write home about. These little flowers have ushered in the Hendrickson hatch so accurately in the past that I always check their progress on my walks at the river. The buds will open in the next day or so and I'll bet that there will be a good Hendrickson hatch 40 miles upstream on the Cohocton River this weekend.
