The upper Mississippi for smallies. I have a wedding to "shoot" sometime in April in NW Iowa and hope to find a farm pond in the area. Then again, I'm always on the lookout for "new" waters. JGW

    Robert,
I intent to fish at least 3-4 new waters this year [and most years lately]. I have favorite waters of course, but I really enjoy trying new ones. Lately I have been going to different "creek/rivers" that I can reach within a day. I define a "creek/river" as one that I can wade just about all over, and that I can wade down the center [which is not necessarly the way to go] and reach either shore with my 8' 4 wgt LU. The smallies are often smaller than the larger rivers, but are very, very numerous! They are a complete hoot on a 4 wgt.

At least 1 & possibly as many as 3 new ponds..add to that a number of new streams/rivers & that just adds to my ever present enthusiasm for this great sport.

2 local ponds and a long section of the Ouachita river.

Yep, I've got a terrific remote area in Michigan's UP with at least 5 lakes I plan to work for pike smallies and muskie. Pleanty of stream water to play on up there too. Just a few more months away!

I'm going to check out three urban areas about 5-10 mins. from my house. Two of them are good looking creeks below some expressway overpasses and the other one is the North Canadain River below Lake Overholser Dam.
