Default Update on the Vermillion River (Minnesota)

Back in January of 2003, an article I wrote, ran in the "Readers Cast" column. The title of the article is, "How Dare They...!", about the opposition (by land developer's) to extending the "Trout Stream" designation to addition portions of the Vermillion River.

In the November 29th edition of the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, there is a story (by Frederick Melo)...

" on a gift to the Minnesota DNR, of 475 acres of land along the Vermillion River, to further the fishing and hunting, to the public. This is one of the Minnesota's largest land acquisitions this year.

The land was donated by the James Miles family, from a portion of their farmland. By the time of of its dedication next spring, the Miles property will become Dakota County's largest undeveloped east of the fast-growing cities of Lakeville and Farmington. It will also be Dakota County's the largest public hunting grounds and new gateway to the Vermillion River. Along the river's trophy-sized brown trout, the land is a popular area for deer, pheasant and waterfowl. The Minnesota DNR, has also reported sighting the occasional fox and coyote, and there also speculation about beaver and otter."

I want to say "Thank You!" to each member of the Miles Family, for this wonderful gift! ~Parnelli

    love it, love it.
Developers have to make a living, but I see this outcome as a super one. Thanks for the report.
