We're in the very early stages of fighting this battle ourselves here in the Ozarks. Something has got to change. But a lot of the problem is not chemicals, so to speak, but poultry WASTE being used in high concentrations as fertilizer in bottomlands. Especially in hilly topography, this is a real problem. Nitrate pollution runs rampant when rain and/or snow melt dumps tons of this stuff straight into the streams.
