The weather channel is calling for MORE flooding this Thur. and Fri. will there be any bugs left in those streams? I beleive this will make 3 times in a short period that it's been flooded out up there...

I heard yesterday that the library lost books on the bottom couple of shelves, and that some of the the Two-headed Trout dinner guests ended up stranded in the school gym.

Hope all our FAOLers are ok... Mark and Misa?

This has been much discussed elsewhere with divided opinion. I am now inclined to believe that it will be selective. Clinger-type and borrougher-type nymphs, stoneflies, and fast-water caddis will have made it through largely unaffected.

Swimmers and clingers will be affected, but some believe those species are likely to surprise.

In my opinion, the little black stones and olives have been back reasonably strong in eastern PA and NJ this spring, despite last fall's flooding.

So I'm optimistic -- although I'm basing this on common sense and not deep experience.

The insects could be effected, but BigFlatBrook explained it as good as I can, so I won't say it again.

Those floods have caused Delaware County between 4 and 5 million dollars...one guy's body was found today, and they are still looking for another (their vehicle was found in the river first). I'm not worried about the insects very much, I'm worried about the people along the rivers (The Branches of the Delaware and the Beaverkill got hit quite hard, which means the Main Stem probably did too).

Delaware at Trenton was about 250,000 cfs. That is 20-25% greater than last fall.
