    Default Kickapoo reserve Wisconsin

What a beautiful area. The fishing was really tough, but everyone in the family managed to catch a couple. This area must be what the Dells looked like before it was developed( Just thinking about the Dells makes me start twitching). FYI Coon Valley fly shop has gone under. Best bet for flies and information is the little local watering holes and gas stations.
My boys went nuts the first couple of days. No TV, no cell service, no Wally world, no fast food. Definatly a different pace of life. Hot fly "pink Squirrel"( Maybe a future FOTW)
If one measures the experience on quantity I guess it was a wasted trip. We saw more Bluebirds, kingfishers, flycatchers, and butterflies then I've seen previously in my entire 48 years. Deer ,Otter, one Mink/weasel chasing a rabbit. Almost hit a bull on the louse one morning.
We caught Rainbows, Browns, and a lone Brookie that had colors I can't describe.
Now I send my oldest off to college orientation on Monday.
Next time I'll go earlier in the season.

    Spinner,
Just where is this Kickapoo Reserve in Wisconsin?. My TU Chapter does the Viroqua area for outings but my schedule always clashes with them.

    Default The reserve is the

    Old LaFarge Dam project.
The federal government bought up LOTS of land.
Planned on a HUGE lake and then the projected got shut down.

    Default Spinner.....

    Spinner,

My buddies and I love to fish your neck of the woods. The land is beautiful, the people are nice and you can't beat the fishing.

The West Fork of the Kickapoo and Spring Coulee are our favorite spots. I landed my biggest fish ever this season on Spring Coulee and can't wait for our next trip.

By the way, you have great pictures on your web site.

    Fish well...
