    Default Cabelas 3 Forks...anyone noticed...?

They're listed only as combos now?

The link is too long for me to paste.
If you go to Cabela's flyfishing rod combos, scroll down to the Three Forks and Pflueger Medalist combos there they list the rod only at $49.99.
I bought the rod only at their KCK store last week.

Ah. There they are. Odd that they took them off the main index page for fly rods.

    Having fun up there?

No thanks, though, on the 1 wt. Nothing below a 5 for me. Tried a coupla 4s, just didn't enjoy 'em except a Diamondback that I broke on a boat cleat and I still grieve over.

I built a 1 wt and it is a ball. I also fished Joe Hyde's Sage 00 wt and had fun with that.

I enjoy using a 2wt quite a bit. I've been holding off on the 1wt as I have reservations on casting the flies I use on it. Seems like the 2wt rod is pretty well maxed out on them. I read a lot about 1wt users up-lining to a 2wt line and the reason given is always something like "to cast larger flies", or "to handle wind better". Thoughts??

I realize anything you read on the internet should not be taken with a grain of salt but I read a thread somewhere here perhaps or VFS, flyfish.com a flyfishing board somewhere.

The poster said he weighed the first 30' of a Sage 0 wt line and it actually weighed out at a 2 wt. FWIW

buzz - does anyone besides Sage make the 0 and 00 rods? I don't think there are any "standards" for these sizes so I guess they can make 'em any weight they want to. If true, tho, that would explain the people I run into who claim the ability to fish larger flies than I would have thought possible on the Sage rods at those sizes.

Donald, Sage is the only company I know of that makes either the rods or lines in those weights.
I have a 1 and a 2 wt rod. The 1 wt line takes up a lot less reel spool than the 2, quite a bit infact.
I have never cast or even seen a 00-0 wt rod or line so I really cant comment on the actual size of those lines.
A 3 wt rod is about as small as I can fish with any versatility at all.

I've had the same experience this year. Last year was the first one I had a 2wt and I used it a lot. However, we've had enough wind this year [which pretty well knocks the 2wt off the water!] that the 3wt has more or less become my "go-to" rod as well. Oftentimes the 2wt does not even come out of the tube. Oh well, there's always this fall.

    tite lines.
