I got nailed in the hand the same way as a kid. A quarter oz dipsey sinker snagged in a tree launches at amazing speed out of a bent branch and to a bent rod when it tears free. I remember looking down at the hole in my skin and mashed bone on my knuckle, and after I mananged to stop jumping up and down on the dock, immediately started thinking up lies to tell Dad. This was in case he should opt for a fishing time-out during our yearly NH vacation (which frankly, just wouldn't work for me!) This was also within the age when if you got hurt bad enough to go to the hospital, you got corporal punishment when you got home for: A. being stupid, and of course B. costing the family money.... nuff said.
