Thread: I'm taking a turn on the soapbox

  1. Default I'm taking a turn on the soapbox

FEW things Pi$$ me off more than to place a request under the THINGS WANTED section of the BB, only to have some person email you with products not pertaining to your initial request (which is well indicated as to the nature of what I'm looking for in the first place) and then to redirect your attention to other items they have to offer or worse yet their storefront.

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Okay, my turn is up, who wants the baton?

You know what you want, you ask for what you want, and there's always got to be some one that knows soooo much better what you want, and will tell you so! And indicate, in the process, that you're a total idiot for not thinking of or wanting what they have.

By the way, for your girlfriend (after all she's only a girl!!), I have a really nice spinning rod and reel you may like....

    AAARRRRAAAGGGHHHHH!!

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

I check the Things Wanted Forum to see if I may have what THEY WANT as I may have IT!
In some cases I've even donated THE ITEM!

Now Jack, when you donate the item they don't want....that will be the leap..[G]]

Rocky since I don't know exactly what was emailed to you it is tough to reply but I have noticed that often requests are "given" away rather than sold on the things wanted ads. Maybe some of the replies you got did not recognize the nomenclature you listed and since you didn't specifically say...8 ft 5 wt..or whatever maybe they think they are just being helpful in offering something else. If they are only trying to sell you upgraded gear than you are absolutely right..

    Mantis,

This is what I asked for Older Model Fenwick HMG's, models GFF805 and GFF857. Granted, OLDER might be subjective, that I can handle but....

Here is what was emailed to me........

I have several others, if you check my site, that may work

    David

    Griggs GX806-5 8'6" 5,6 2pc $40 New No Tube
    Diamondback Black Diamond 8' 5,6 4pc $125 Excellent Non-D
    tube and sock
    Loop Adventurer 9' 5,6 2pc $125 NIT
    Tackle Plus FL905 9' 5wt 2pc $50 New No Tube
    Tackle Plus FL905 9' 5wt 2pc $50 New No Tube
    Cabela's Stowaway 8'6" 5wt 5pc $75 As New No Tube
    Cabela's Stowaway 9' 5wt 4pc $75 NIT
    G.Loomis GL2 905 9' 5wt 2pc $95 As NIT/W

Sorry but to me it's just a long-winded informercial for products I didn't request!

I have their name but I'm saving them the disgrace at the moment in hopes they will be more attentive of what they reply to and how they do it!

How about some beach front property in either MS or LA? Going cheap right now.
