Yeah there are shack nastys in the summer! My "Job" has become a nightmare due to some very ignorant people sending out new accounting and membership software that doesn't work!! What should have been a "done by Wed" position is now 6-7 days a week!
I'm doing a dry land Fish-In with ohiotuber at Cabela's tomorrow. That helps and then a long Labor day campout on a local lake.
Into rod building now so that sort of helps too.

It is EVEN WORSE in the summer.

Over the winter, ... we long for the open water, the fresh air, ... the heart throbbing excitement of drifting a dry over a prospective lie .....

During the season, ... it's worse, 'cause we SHOULD be out there, ... we COULD be out there, ... but as Jack mentionned, ... something other than Mother Nature is keeping us away from our passion.

Up here it's been Forest fires, office logistics, governement asking "dumb questions " and a few other office crisis.

Out here in Arizona we are faced with the high heat (even though it is "dry") in the Valley and the Monsoon rains in the mountains. Oh give me Winter any day. Then if I don't fish at least I can head up to Squaw Valley at Lake Tahoe and ski.

It's hotter'n 700 hells here. Mid to upper 90's. The water on the flats is about 93 degrees, I haven't been fishing the flats since Memorial Day...phooey!

Between the heat (101 today) and the price of gas (2.499/gal - down a dime since last week), fishing is pretty much a dead subject for me. Normally I'd drive to a nice location on weekends, but at $50 for gas round trip, it's just gotten too expensive. Thank goodness for fly tying!

I never thought of that. Up here we have to wait for the rocks to get enough sunlight for the ice to melt and to become warm enough to hold on to.

Gentlemen,
Call me " sheltered" but I have never even heard the term " shack nasties". When I saw this thread topic, I thought is was something a "spray" could be used on to remedy.. BUT, now I know and am looking forward to using the term in conversation. Live and learn.

I guess I never thought of it that way. ... Back (way back) when I did a bit of climbing, ... we had to wait for the faces to ice out and dry.
