Default A big Thank You ! to our Southern cousins!

    Just a quick note ...

As you've seen from my recent ramblings on the forum, ... we have had (have) a few forest fires here in Quebec.

Yesterday, ... things were again getting out of control ...

After some very quick communications, ... the State of Maine as well as the State of New Hampshire have sent some forest fire fighters up to help out.

I didn't have time to get the details, ... but they got shipped off to the Abitibi region in north-western Quebec.

They join up with the Quebec force, as well as those that were sent in from British Columbia (as well as the bomber group that Newfoundland and Alberta had sent.

If I recall correctly, .. this is the very first time American teams have been sent up to help us.

Thanks again, ... WE WILL RETURN the favor if ever needed.!!

    Chris

Hope those fires are put under control very quickly. Micus and I were going to come up and help, but we got turned back at the border. I think we would have been alright except Micus kept telling the guy he had a lifetime Canadian Club membership.

    Dave!!

I don't know if getting Micus near OPEN FLAMES would be a good idea, .... from what I've read here, ... the "vapours" he gives off could just light 'im up

p.s. ... how come, American's run around looking for Canadian Club, ... and us Canuks run around looking for Jack Daniel's ???

    Chris;
I've fished the Abitibi on the Drift Wood North of Cochran, beautiful! Best trip ever!! How bad are the fires? Lots of wilderness homes in the area.

    Jack,

The Abitibi isn't my area, so I can't say if any cottages or camps are getting fried

It's hot here ... The salvage logging crews that were in the fires we put out in June had to scramble to save their butts.

We lost a few machines though (feller bunchers and cats) over here on the Normandin River fire salvage when it flared up.

    p.s. ...

You must really want to go help someone when you know you'll be going up against this:

    So again, ... Thank you.

You can never have too much wood when you bar-b-que.

Chris those are some pics. Hope all is well. And don't let Micus fool you. He's been turned around at the Mexican border as well. He tried to tell them he was Speedy Gonzales and was on his way home. That dog didn't hunt either.
