Mike,

There will certainly be 'fishable' water someplace in the area.

There are lakes in the area that fish well all season. Some of the streams and rivers fish well when the water is high. Some don't.

The Animas is subject to blow out and getting muddy, but it's pretty easy to tell since it runs right through town.

The Pine River, at least last year when run offs were high, was absolutley awesome to fish in June. Bit of a walk, though, but worth it.

The Mancos River is a great fishery for Brookies, and it handles run off well, since it has a 'managed' flow by the Mancos Valley Water Board.

Vallecito Lake is chock full of rainbows and browns, and some big ones, as well as pike and smallmouth bass. Juse was amazing last year, with folks on shore bait fishing catching lots of fish in the 20+ inch range. The few fly fishermen that ventured out there caught obscene numbers of fish, and some very big ones. Lots of fun.

Plenty of places to fish, even if it's during run-off.

Good Luck!

Buddy
