    Default Its about time!

I finally caught a trout! It only took 3 years of fly fishing for it to finally happen. Yeah I've caught bluegill, crappie and bass, but when I think of fly fishing, trout is the next word that comes to mind. Dont get me wrong I love the warm water but nothing completed this sport more for me then last nite when I finally caught my first trout. It was a 10-12" long rainbow, yeah it was stocked but it was a great sense of accomplishment for me. Best part about it was that the river I was fishing in was told to be extremely hard for FF'ers imparticular. For some reason the fish just like what spin rodders throw at them. Sorry for the waste of bandwith but I had to post.

    Tim,

Now you are hooked!! Please do not make it sound like it was not a great accomplishment by stating it was a "stocker". It was still a trout and you had to fool it with a fly and you did it! Be proud and keep on fishing. Job well done.

    Tim,
That's great, isn'tit? I got my 1st last year...a brown a couple inches smaller than your rainbow, but still a thrill. It always is, adding a new species caught.
    Good for you.

    Tim,

Did you catch it on a fly you tied yourself?
That is the next big thrill!

Thank you all for the kind words! And yep it was on one of my flies. A pink/red scud. I use the body hair from my wifes albino rabit. I make up the body and color it in with a red sharpie. I use a plastic strip for the shell back. After the fly gets wet it thins out the red leaving a pink, red and white accented scud. I unfortunatly lost the fly so I have to tie up some more before I go again. Thank you again for the kind words everyone!

    Hi Tim,

Hey congrats on your first trout especially on the fact that it was on your own fly. Hey, if you want to have some fun, even if you don't catch any (highly unlikely) trout, see if you can pop up to Roscoe next week for the Fish In.
