FYI
Microsoft 2 days ago had a couple of patches that closed a vulnerability Explorer had...at least for me ....I've used Firefox but there are some little things it doesn't allow me to do so I've been using Maxthon which is a browser piggy backed on Explorer and actually the browser used by the guy that devised Explorer for Microsoft...I guess it is still coupled to Explorer and theoretically not as safe as Firefox but I sure do like a lot of the features...
I have Macafee which came with my Dell I just bought. I have the ability to trace attacks like ben talks about. I'm getting blasted from Korea, China, Mexico and all over Europe. It explains what each attack uses to try to get in and what port is getting hit. Interesting....

Hi,
my first post on this board, but try the following FREE combination of programs
1. AVG anti virus
2. ZoneAlarm firewall
3. Spybot Search & Destroy
I'm using Windows XP pro with SP1 (SP2 did weird stuff to my computer)
All the programmes are available on the 'net.
Hope this helps
Welcome! i'm just curious, what problems did you have with sp2? I have had none.
Bill
Is there a problem if you run the firewall that comes in XP se with another software package's firewall(Norton, McAfee...)? I hanve not been able to get this question answered by someone not personally involved in one of the companies.
Soup,
The answer is yes.
Here is a link that I've copied and am currently looking for another thread to give it to but if you back track to the home page and go from there your question is covered.
