Good job on a much awaited article. Missed seeing your stories for the past few weeks. The new skiff looks great. Hope you catch many more fish in it.

Thanks Mohawk...I got a little "long-winded" on that one.

My Pop jus got a flat bottom boat with a four stroke. Great river boat and makes and even better casting platform. The only problem is no real keel and like you said is that it doesn't track well and is a ***** to get back onto the trailer in a current or wind.

Congrats and good luck on the new boat Dude.

    Thanks Micro...
There are side bunks available for most trailers. They mount to the oustide rail of the trailer and are carpeted. They "catch" the boat's gunwales as one appoaches the trailer. Sure made a huge difference in loading the boat in the wind.

I had a 'roller' sticking up about three feet, from the tail end of both bunkers. Guided the boat into & onto the trailor. Installed a 2 X 10 full length on top of the tongue. Never got wet loading or unloading

    Hey Flats,
Good to see you finally got your boat. All in all your shake-down trip does not sound bad. Not bad at all. After all, there was catching involved.

Dude, long winded will be what you get from poling that expensive fishing platform into a 20 knot head wind with a moderate chop chasing down an elusive fish ! Great times for the end of the sight fishing season before the rains came. Glad y'all caught a few in goood weather ! You might want to consider glide slicks for the trailer bunks, but then again it'd be like a dog that won't heel when you're launching on the boat ramp !

Great read. Glad Linda can still out fish you, makes me feel better when Sue beats me.
