Fly Fishing in Bald Head Island

This summer I am taking a vacation to Bald Head Island, NC around July 4th. Naturally, despite the fact that I'm going with my girlfriend, I am going to try and fish as much as possible. I have an 8wt rod which I have used on canadian lakes but have never taken it to the salt. My questions are. Is this rod going to cut it? Is there any good salt-water fly fishing there? Does anyone know anything about fly fishing in this location? I have tried the internet to recieve some answers here, but with little luck. Any help would be appreciated...right down to what fly's I should be bringing.
