Default What rods to bring to Tampa Bay in March/ April?

My trip to the Tampa Bay area from mid March till mid April is is very close. I am packing my fly gear now. Usually I have managed well with 8-weight rods. Should I bring anything heavier? Most of my catch so far has been sea trouts. I do not what to expect in April.

Your 8 will do you fine unless you plan on Tarpon up to 80 to 100#s or so then a minimum 10wt would suffice. Anything bigger than 100#s and you'd BETTER have a telephone pole in your hands. Either that or a 12wt.

The 8wt is fine for most inshore species. I would suggest a 6wt also for trout and small reds on calm days. As Gil said, it you are going to try for tarpon, an 11wt or 12wt. Tarpon are unlikely unless you have a boat.
